Van Guided Tours
The Island of São Jorge is a Natural Paradise, about 60 km long and 8 km wide, oblong and narrow like a dragon sleeping in the sea. Formed by the interaction of compressive forces and multiple geological, volcanic, and seismic processes, it is crowned by a mountainous ridge with volcanic cones and calderas, where cloud forests and endemic, native vegetation coexist with patches of stone-walled pastures made of black basalt.
From this central plateau, the island plunges down its steep and rugged slopes toward the sea. It is along these cliffs—shaped both by magmatic lava flows and by collapse structures resulting from erosion—that its famous and distinctive fajãs are formed: relatively flat strips of land that emerge at the foot of the mountain escarpments. With their favorable and fertile microclimates, these areas were chosen by early settlers to establish their villages and communities.

Land of Volcanoes, Fajãs, Scenic Views, Waterfalls, Lagoons, Natural Pools, Crystal-Clear Ocean, and Lush Vegetation — but also of Trails, Surfing, Diving, and Sea Bathing.
It is a Land of Built Heritage and Traditions, of the Island’s Cheese and of its Festivals that bring communities together.
We exist to provide you with a meaningful experience of Tourism and Nature.
